Here is another trailer for the upcoming "Star Wars - The Last Jedi". And for the first time I really got excited while watching it, which to be honest wasn't the case before with all those other trailers which have been released so far. But this one makes me really looking forward to the movie. Because it shows Luke training Rey and the struggles they have.

As I've already assumed before Luke is hesistant with training Rey. He fears to fail again as he did with Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren. While Rey might be a rough diamond at first she assures him that she won't fail him as Kylo did before. In one of the interviews he recently gave Mark Hamill revealed that Luke won't be the good teacher as Obi Wan was. Am sure we'll see quite some tensions between Luke and Rey. Which will be in direct contrast to what we used to see between Luke, Obi Wan and Yoda.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi - Who is flying the Falcon?

Since a couple of weeks several trailers for "The Last Jedi" have been released which for the most part always show the same scenes; which are sometimes recut to either show us a bit more of a certain scene, even if it's just a closer look at something ( like Kylo Ren's face f.e.). But some of the recently released smaller trailers even include new scenes which haven't been seen before. Like with the new trailer, called "Awake" ( watch the trailer below) where we see new scenes which show the Millenium Falcon. Especially one small scene was revealing to me. Which shows Luke standing in the cockpit of the Falcon seemingly switching it on. And while doing that he's looking around in amazement like he's just having a big flashback.

The Millenium Falcon has been featured in all the trailers. But so far we haven't seen who is actually flying it. There is this short sequence where we can see Chewie sitting in the cockpit roaring, while a new companion is sitting right next to him. A tiny Porg. A birdlike resident creature of Ahch-To, Luke's hideout. But Chewbacca is as usual sitting in his co-pilot chair. The one who is actually flying the Falcon has not been revealed yet. Most people automatically assumed that it must be Rey who is flying it. Because after Han's death she seemed to have taken over the pilot's seat. But now with the new trailer there seems to be another option.

As already mentioned in a previous article storyleaks have suggested that Ahch-To will get attacked by the First Order. There is also a scene in the very first trailer where we see Rey running as if she's going to attack someone with her light sabre. Is she about to fight First Order-troops? If that'd be the case then Kylo Ren somehow found out about Luke's whereabouts. This would mean that he got the missing part of the map which shows Skywalker's location. As we all know by now BB-8 has that map. So somehow it got into the hands of the First Order. We may see how that happens in "The Last Jedi". There is also the scene which shows Rey being in Snoke's throne room, possibly being tortured by him. That would mean that she gets captured.

Will Rey get captured by the First Order?

Ok, let's assume that this all will take place. Then seeing Luke entering the Falcon's cockpit would only mean one thing. He will fly it together with Chewie as his co-pilot.

Will Luke fly the Millenium Falcon?

In any case. All scenes which featured the Millenium Falcon in the new trailers suggest that it's being piloted by a very skilled person whose pilot skills could be akin to that of a Han Solo.All in all we only see the Falcon flying around on Crait. So far there haven't been any scenes which show Rey being rescued. Unless Finn, Rose and DJ are about to do that while going undercover dressed in First Order uniforms. So this would mean that Luke will join the Resistance and help them fending off the attack of Kylo Ren's troops on the Resistance Base on Crait.

The Last Jedi - Possible Timeline Of Events

Now there have been many who have analyzed the latest trailer for "The Last Jedi" in detail and some even tried to figure out which scene might appear when. I will do something similar, but I will only focus on the events involving Kylo Ren. Especially when it comes to the final scene of the trailer where he seems to offer someone his hand. I think that scene is clearly misleading.

Ok, let's first outline what we're about to see in Star Wars 8. Starkiller Base has been destroyed but the First Order found out where the Resistance base is. Rey went to Luke to try to convince him to come back to help figthing Snoke and the First Order and of course to get trained by him. We know that the first scene of the movie will pick up right where "The Force Awakens" ended, with Rey meeting Luke.

So putting that aside for a moment, what are the Resistance and the First Order doing? It's clear that the Resistance Base will get attacked by Kylo Ren and his troops in order to take revenge for the destruction of Starkiller Base and to whipe out the whole Resistance. That's possibly the big spacebattle which will take place and where Kylo is flying his cool Tie Figther. You can clearly see that he's got a black patch over the wound on his face. So it's still fresh. Which makes it clear that these scenes will appear in the first half of the movie. Leia and the Resistance manage to escape and head to the new base which will be on Crait; the desert planet with that bright whitish sand and the red mud below it.

There is that scene where we see Kylo standing in an elevator. At first he's wearing his mask, which he then takes off and possibly crushes it (Remember his destroyed mask in the first teaser. It's clearly lying on the floor of said elevator). He's also wearing the black patch there. So that scene will happen either before or after the attack on the Resistance Base (edit to add: I tend to believe that we'll see that scene before the attack. Because we don't see him wearing the mask in other scenes anymore. Except that one scene in Snoke's red throne room.). If it happens before then maybe he's not happy with himself because he just killed his father and didn't get the results he had hoped for. If it happens after the attack then maybe he's also not happy with himself because he wasn't able to destroy the Resistance and not able to kill his mother. In the clip in the trailer which shows said space battle it seems like he's reluctant if not even not willing to pull the trigger to destroy Leia's cruiser. I am sure this might have some repercussions of some sorts.

Later on the First Order will somehow find out about Crait and will attack the base there. That's the scene with those big walkers and the ATATs. The attack will be successful in one or the other way. At least to me it seems to be clear that Kylo will make his way into the base. The scene where he walks into that cave together with a whole bunch of stormtroopers could indicate just that. Now we're getting to the final scene of the trailer where he's reaching out his hand. He's not wearing any patch on his face anymore, so the wound is about to heal and this indicates this scene happens later on in the movie. Now what will he do in there? Who is he reaching out to?

The trailer makes it look like he's reaching out to Rey. But both seem to hate each other. Rey hates Kylo because he just killed her father-figure, Han Solo. And Kylo hates just anybody anyway. Well, of course he also hates her because he got defeated and injured by her. If above mentioned scene happens inside the new Resistance base then it could be that he's reaching out to his mother, Leia, in order to offer her help to escape the clutches of the First Order. As we could see in the trailer Leia is in that base and it seems Kylo couldn't kill his mother during the spacebattle. So maybe he attempts to change sides and wants to flee together with his mom?

To me this is rather unlikely. What would be much more likely should be obvious to everyone who saw "The Force Awakens". Just think back to what happened there.

What was Kylo after all the time? Yes. Correct. "The map to Skywalker, where is it?"

He has been tasked to destroy the "last Jedi". Storyleaks have indicated that Luke's hideout on Ahch-To will be attacked, either by the First Order or by the Knights of Ren. In the first trailer for "The Last Jedi" we could see Rey running towards something or somebody. Her lightsaber was ignited like she was about to attack someone. So at some point Kylo could indeed show up there. This means that he finally got "the map to Skywalker". Who had that map? Right, it's BB-8. And he's the personal astrodroid of Poe Dameron who is also on Crait as we just could see behind the scenes footage. In any case Kylo must confront one of them, either Poe or BB-8. And that's possibly the scene where he is reaching out his hand. Not to offer help to somebody, but to demand something. "The map to Skywalker, give it to me!"

Chewbacca IS Star Wars!

Back then shortly before "The Force Awakens" has been released I went to a local store. Right at the entrance were two lifesize cardboard figures. One was of a First Order Stormtrooper and the other one was Chewbacca. I have to admit the Stormtrooper looked cool but didn't really make me exited about the new movie. I still prefer the old Stormtroopers from the original trilogie which look much more fierce in my opinion. But then I looked at Chewie and it triggered this familiar feeling which was asleep since all those decades. It was the original Star Wars-feeling. It was the same old feeling which makes you exited when you see the original characters or a Tie Tighter or an X-Wing. You just start to feel like a kid again. It was that moment where it became clear to me how special Chewbacca is.

Recently I read an article on screenrant.com where they were making predictions about what might happen in "The Last Jedi". Among those predictions was that Chewie would find his end during an attack. To me this was just unacceptable. We just had to watch Han Solo die a totally useless death in "The Force Awakens". Then we also lost Carrie Fisher which is just very sad. And to me that's just more than enough.


I personally (and possibly many other people too) would have loved to see all the original characters (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, R2, C3PO) being together again. That might have been what a lot of people would have expected as it's been announced that they all have been casted for Star Wars 7. Sadly we just had a little bit of Han, barely anything of Leia and almost nothing of Luke.

The above mentioned article claimed that now that Han would be gone that it wouldn't make any sense if Chewbacca would have his own adventures. And that there would be no reason for Chewie to stay in the franchse and that he should find his death during Star Wars 8. With which I totally disagree.

Some might see him only making sense when he's together with Han, who was his best friend. But I see him as a character who can be on his own and even bond with others. He already has a bond with Leia and Luke. He also already became friends with Rey. That friendship might develop even more in the next two episodes of Star Wars. Rey seems to be the new captain of the Falcon now and I don't see any reason why its co-pilot couldn't stay. I kinda like that idea. Her being the Jedi in training and he being the big hairy thing who is protecting her, like he did in that scene in Maz Kanata's castle, where they encounter Unkar Plutt.

As it seems Rey is now the new Captin of the Falcon and Chewie her co-pilot.

Apart from all this, as mentioned above, Chewbacca gives you that classic Star Wars-feeling, just like all the original characters do. His appearance, the way he acts and his roar triggers feelings all the new characters just can't give you (yet). Chewie is essential! Chewie IS Star Wars! Just as Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker or C3PO are. Losing Chewbacca would mean another major blow to the franchise. It's necessary that he's allowed to stay in or that certain Star Wars-feeling would also be gone to some extent. And I fear it would make the new trilogy less interesting to many.

And while we're on it, please, Disney, give Luke, Leia, R2D2 and C3PO bigger roles this time. I am sure this would be a big improvement to the movie.

Will Kylo Ren set the Force Tree on fire?

Spoiler Allert! The following article could contain potential spoilers! 

Is this the supposed "Force Tree"?

According to recent story leaks about "Star Wars 8 - The Last Jedi" there could be a "Force Tree" on Luke's hideout Ahch-To. This tree seems to be connected to the Force somehow and no matter if Jedi or Sith the tree represents something valuable. Maybe like the cave on Dagobah where Luke had a kind of vision of Darth Vader. That place also seemed to be connected to the Force.

Recent spoilers suggest that there will be an attack on Ahch-To by the First Order led by Kylo Ren. It's unknown how they are able to find that place because they didn't had the full map which showed where Luke was hiding. Maybe they are able to get it in their possession during an attack on the Resistance base. It would be logical that Snoke and Ren would take revenge for the destruction of Starkiller Base. Which would mean that the attack on Ahch-To could happen during the second half of the movie.

Is Kylo setting the "Force Tree" on fire here?

Anyway it could be that Kylo is able to set the tree on fire regardles of what kind of consequences it might have for him, because it's being suggested that nobody is allowed to mess with such a powerful place. But as we know Ren is ready and willing to do just anything in order to become as powerful as his grandfather, Darth Vader, was.

New Outfits for Rey and Kylo Ren in Star Wars VIII - What could it mean?

The following is pure speculation.

Recently new outfits for Rey and Kylo Ren have been revealed which seem to have a slightly different style now for Star Wars 8 than the ones they used to wear in "The Force Awakens".

Rey's dress reminds us of the classic Jedi robes we are familiar with from the Prequel Trilogy. It's got kinda the same earth colors as the robes of  Qui Gon Jinn or Obi Wan Kenobi.

Kylo Ren though is still prefering a very dark outfit. Unlike the one he was wearing in Star Wars 7 he seems to prefer a Vader-like cape now over a cloak. The rest of his outfit seems to have been inspired by Luke Skywalker's dress from "Return of the Jedi" and/or Anakin Skywalker's outfit from "Revenge of the Sith". So a very dark appearance.

Does the change of outfits indicate the progress both characters have made? During the teaser/trailer for "Star Wars VIII - The Last Jedi" Luke says that "It's time for the Jedi to end". To me this sounds like he'll be very hesitant training Rey in the Jedi-ways. In his mind he possibly thinks that he failed to continue the legacy of the Jedi because his former apprentice, Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren, turned to the dark side and slaughtered all his other padawans. He possibly feels that he's the last jedi and that there won't be any more, because he's not such a good Jedi Master and doesn't want to fail again. During the first half it's possibly on Rey to convince him otherwise. Her brown Jedi-like outfit could mean that she wants to continue the Jedi legacy.

With Kylo it could be totally different though. Anakin's black outfit in "Revenge of the Sith" was possibly an indicator for that he'd turn to the dark side in that episode. Although Luke was wearing a quite similiar dress in "Return of the Jedi" it possibly rather indicated his inner conflict. He encountered Vader for the first time in "The Empire Strikes Back" and failed to kill him. Indeed he even had to find out that he's his son. So he possibly didn't know if he should kill his father or if he should follow in his footsteps?

As we could see in "The Force Awakens" Kylo seems to be full of inner conflicts. He's still being touched by the light side of the Force sometimes although he tries to fight it. He wants to become a Dark Jedi and therefore tries to eliminate any light inside of him. That's why he killed his father, Han Solo. Because he represented one of his inner connections to the light side of Force. It could be that his outfit should represent his inner conflict which he's trying to fight. Maybe he will run into situations which will make him doubt about his current course. Maybe there's a chance of Kylo turning against his master, Snoke, at one point of the trilogy. But maybe only to become the master himself.

New Outfits for Rey and Kylo Ren revealed!

Those who pre-order "Battlefront 2" will get special skins for Kylo Ren and Rey. Both outfits can possibly be seen in "Star Wars VIII - The Last Jedi".

When taking a closer look at Rey it seems like her outfit was inspired by Qui-Gon Jinn's dress back from "The Phantom Menace". It seems like she's paying respect to old Jedi-traditions.

Kylo Ren seems to wear a Vaderesque cape now. The rest of his dress reminds us of what Luke and Anakin were wearing in "Return Of The Jedi" and "Revenge Of The Sith". So it has a pretty dark look. It also seems that we will see him more often without his helmet now. Those who watched the first trailer for "The Last Jedi" possibly noticed that his helmet was lying on the floor and it was totally smashed by whom or by what force ever. Maybe he had an encounter with either Luke or Rey. Or maybe it happened during training with his master Snoke..

First scene of "The Last Jedi" has been revealed (humor)

SPOILER ALERT!! 

At the end of "The Force Awakens" we see Rey finding Luke in his solitude on a water planet called Ahch-To. Unfortunately that scene was very short and we only see Luke staring at Rey without saying anything. Many people were disappointed about that. Because many hoped to see Luke back in action again. As it seems in "The Last Jedi" it won't be much different.
